Under the header "Future of Europe Debates", IDEA NL's latest member Commun Global hosted debates across the region of Extremadura on the question "should the EU ban animal testing?"
Commun Global is a debate organisation in Spain that seeks to promote debate as an important citizenship and 21st-century skill amongst high school and tertiary education students. They operate primarily in Extremadura, a rural region in Spain where they feel it is of the upmost importance that youth are engaged and receive strong skills through education. They also believe that knowledge and engagement with the European project should be at the core of their program, for the European project directly impacts these youth's lives.
The debate tournaments engaged students' thinking on an important current topic on both European co-operation and animal welfare, part of a sustainable framework: one of the most important challenges facing the future of Europe according to topics selected by youth themselves.
This project was co-financed by the Europe for Citizens programme of the European Union.
