Kick of meeting structural grant with all 30 network organisations in Europe who were selected for this grant.
IDEANL is happy and proud to announce that Europe for Citizens has honoured us again with the operational grant for 2019. This is a recognition of our meaningful work to empower young people in Europe in 21st century skills such as critical thinking, argumentation and debating youth perceptions about problems and solutions for their Future in Europe.
Indeed, this grant promises again meaningful debate education, debates and exchanges about the Future of Europe between youth across Europe in 14 countries! We are very happy to implement and coordinate this program in close cooperation with our members in EU countries, all network debate organisations who are very active to develop debating and critical thinking skills of secondary school students (and more) in their countries. Where present, IDEA members have been leading providers of debate education at national level. IDEA and its members believe strongly that Europe needs reasoned arguments. Populism has been on the rise in democracies all over the world. In order to challenge it, citizens need to know how to call it out. We work with youth, so that they receive this skill, too often neglected by schools.
Therefore we identify strongly with the mission of Europe for Citizens
To contribute to citizens' understanding of the Union,
To contribute to citizens' understanding of the Union
Debating the future of Europe, challenging Europsceptism
Promoting solidarity, fostering intercultural dialogue and peace
Network activities to debate the future of Europe
Network activities to develop operating capacity and to create synergy and progress in our great network!
IDEA focus on all young people including youth who have lesser opportunities to be heard because they grow up under marginalised situation. IDEA supports them via our partners in the network Open UP! Let Youth be Heard. IDEA is selected together wth 29 other network organisations in Europe. We are very honoured to receive this prestigious grant especially because it shows how important it is to recognise young people's right to be heard! (Article 12 of the International Convention of the United Nations for the Right of the Child). Therefore we believe 'Debate Changes youth Life!"
