Serbian youth learn about debate as a problem-solving methodology

The Association for for Creative Communication and Debate (ACCD) in Serbia organised three seminars on youth activism in South Serbia for students in high school. A total of sixty-three students of Albanian and Serbian background from Bujanovac, Vranje and Trgoviste took part.

The youth learned how to use debate and activism for discussing and solving problems related to migration and poverty. They learned about the use of public debates and how to seek the best possible solutions, raise funds, design programs and train themselves and other youth. The seminar was evaluated very positively by the participants, getting a score close to 4 on the Institute for Education Advancement scale.

The seminar was organised as part of the project idebateEU. This is a cooperation project of IDEA Amsterdam, IDEA London and ten IDEA members from all across Europe. The project aims to improve cooperation between IDEA and its members and between members, sharing debate methodologies and organisational knowledge in the framework of common activities on European topics. The project is made possible with support of the Europe for Citizens Programme of the European Commission. The seminar was co-funded by the United States of America embassy in Belgrade.
