The Estonian Debating Society (EDS) organised a wide variety of activities between September 15 and 22 surrounding Democracy Day (September 15). The Democracy Days activities took place in 76 different schools spread over 30 different locations in Estonia. A total of 5885 high school and university students participated in lectures given by well-known public figures such as politicians, actors and business leaders or members of the EDS presenting debates about democracy-related topics.

Open Communication Serbia organised a Summer  Debate Academy from July 28 until August 3. A total of 48 university and high school students between 18 and 25 participated in three days of seminars, followed by two days of tournament with six rounds. Romanian debate organisation ARDOR organised a regional debate competition called "Youth Debates" on April 27-28. The competition was in World Schools format for beginner debaters aand a total of 27 teams and 34 adjudicators participated. There were three preliminary rounds, semi finals and a final.

The Czech Debate Association ADK organised the Open Gate Open and Debate Training in Babice over the weekend of September 20 to 22. The debate training was open to high school students from all over the Czech Republic..A total of 46 students participated in the event in the Open Gate Open Boarding School. The participants took part in one of two tracks: one for more experienced debaters focused on the Karl Popper Debate format and one for beginners who combined training with trial debates.

This was the question that the Debattierclub of the RWTH Aachen raised for a public of students on June 19. The debate about the legitimacy of the EU and people's responses to it was the third in a series called "Klartext Europa". National parliament member Andrej Hunko from Linken and Marc-André Schulz from the Debatierclub Aachen argued on the proposition side, Bettina Herlitzius, Bundestag member for the Grünen, and Marcel Jühling from the Debattierclub Aachen on the opposition side.

IDEA Amsterdam and partners cordially invite you to participate in the next edition of the debate program "The Inclusion of African Youth in Europe." We seek a a wide variety of backgrounds among participants who are united by their interest in the subject, so anyone from youth with an African background, students of African studies or young professionals with a strong interest in African issues is welcome. The event is a follow up from the succesful first edition, a debate program on the future of African youth in Europea and Africa.

The Utrecht Debating Society organised a public debate on the future of Europe on the 27th of May. About fifty people made their way to the Instituto Cervantes for the IDEA project Debate changing Europe event. They participated in a debate with Labour Party Euroskeptic René Cuperus and university teacher international and political history Mathieu Segers.

Dertig studenten uit verschillende Europese landen namen deel aan het gezamenlijke evenement van Debate changing Europe van twee tot en met zes juni. Zij leerden hierbij meer over de werking van de EU en hoe gewone burgers die kunnen beïnvloeden. Ook bespraken zij jeugdwerkloosheid als thema en hoe jongeren dit thema op de politieke agenda van de EU kunnen beïnvloeden. De deelnemers zijn nu weer naar huis met heel veel nieuwe indrukken en kennis.

The last day of the training programs of Debate changing Europe started with a relaxing boat trip on the Meuse/Maas river for which Maastricht is named. The participants discussed the things they had learned on their visit to Brussels, took in the lovely environments or just soaked up the sun. They then moved on to Chateau Bethlehem, a training location for the local hotel school and the perfect place to close off the training event.
